Deposit a paper check from your phone using your camera — funds typically land in your wallet within 1–2 business days, no trip to the bank required.
How to deposit a check
- Sign or endorse the back of the check. Most checks need your signature plus "For mobile deposit only" below it
- Open Kronos and tap Add Money → Deposit Check
- Take a clear photo of the front of the check (well-lit, all four corners visible, no glare)
- Take a photo of the back showing your endorsement
- Enter the check amount — must match exactly what's printed on the check
- Confirm and submit
Limits
- Maximum check amount: $5,000 per check
- Volume limit: up to 5 check deposits per hour
- Larger amounts may be split across multiple checks if the issuer is willing, or you can use ACH/direct deposit for bigger payments
Fees
- Payroll, government, or treasury checks: 2% of the check amount, $5 minimum
- Personal checks: 5% of the check amount, $5 minimum
- The fee is shown to you before you submit and deducted from the credited amount, so you always see the net amount you'll receive
How long until funds are available?
Most check deposits clear within 1–2 business days. Larger or unusual checks may be held longer if our processor flags them for review. You'll see the funds appear as "Pending" in your transaction history until they fully clear.
What can be deposited
- Personal checks made out to you
- Payroll checks
- Government checks (tax refunds, Social Security, etc.)
- Cashier's checks and money orders made out to you
- Treasury checks
What can't be deposited
- Checks made out to anyone other than you
- Checks dated more than 6 months ago
- Post-dated checks
- Foreign checks
- Checks already deposited elsewhere
- Damaged or illegible checks
Photo not accepted?
Most rejections come from glare, blurry text, or missing corners. Tips:
- Lay the check flat on a dark, non-reflective surface
- Take the photo from directly above
- Make sure all four corners are visible
- Avoid shadows from your hand or phone
- Hold steady — let the autofocus lock before tapping
