Direct debits let third-party billers — utilities, gym, internet, insurance — pull money from your Kronos wallet automatically when a bill is due, the same way you might use a checking account at a traditional bank.
Setting up a direct debit
Direct debits are initiated by the biller, not by you. Give them your Kronos:
- Routing number — find it in Profile → Direct Deposit
- Account number — same place
- Account type — Checking
Most billers have an autopay enrollment form on their website where you'll enter these. Some require a voided check or PDF — request one from support@getkronos.io.
Manage active direct debits
See every recurring debit and one-time pull on your account in Profile → Direct Debits. For each one you can:
- See the biller name, last debit date, and last amount
- Block — prevent any future debits from this biller (you can unblock later)
- Dispute — for an unauthorized debit, file a Reg E dispute (treated like a card chargeback)
Insufficient funds
If a direct debit hits and your wallet doesn't have enough balance, the debit is rejected and the biller gets a return code. You may incur an NSF fee from the biller (not from Kronos). To avoid this:
- Keep a buffer in your wallet around when bills are due
- Schedule a recurring auto-transfer from savings to wallet a day before each bill (see scheduled transfers article)
Stop a recurring direct debit
The cleanest way to stop one is at the source — log into the biller's account and disable autopay. As a backup, you can also Block the biller in Profile → Direct Debits to refuse all future pulls. Blocking does not cancel your underlying contract with the biller — call them to do that.
